28 new veg and flower seed varieties for 2022! 

For over 125 years, Dobies has provided gardeners with a fabulous choice of new seed varieties at down to earth prices – and this year is no exception! Dobies has added 28 new veg and flower varieties to its collection (including a further seven new seeds to the Rob Smith Range) keeping all gardens – from allotments to window boxes – brimming with blooms and well stocked with produce.

 Tomato Seeds – Y Ddraig Goch F1 (Red Dragon)

A history-making Tomato – the first officially registered with a Welsh name!
 
A superb British bred cordon variety with exquisite flavour and outstanding rich red tomatoes. This new variety, introduced at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019, is a cross between gardeners’ and cooks’ favourites Goldstar and Cedrico.

Tomato Seeds – Honeycomb F1

Pumpkin Seeds – Triple Treat

The perfect pumpkin by far – it really is a triple-treat!

Not only is this trailing variety one of the best to carve it also has thick, deep orange flesh that’s delicious roasted or made into soups and pumpkin pie. Each pumpkin grows to around 20-25cm wide and weighs 3-3.5kg. Its hull-less seeds don’t have a hard shell, so are perfect to eat raw or roasted for a healthy home-grown snack.

A dual-purpose Italian variety with a robust flavour!
 
Lilia Spring Onions have dark, pink/purple bases, tapering to dark green leaves and a shiny, intense red inner core. Delicious grown as spring onions, these plants can also be grown as a maincrop storing bulb onion – when fully mature it shows defined red and white inner rings.

Panache F1 produces small (45-60cm) plants that really pack a punch! Producing lots of huge 200g fruit, ripening from green to red, which are around 12cm long! That’s a lot of fruit from a small plant which also offers excellent disease resistance.

The quality and taste of a Nantes with the shape of an Imperator!
 
Ibiza F1 is incredibly sweet and perfect for snacking, with a better colour and taste than ‘SugarSnax 54’. This long imperator type produces very uniform, 30cm long, tapered, smooth roots with a very dark orange colour. It’s great for the dinner plate and as a show carrot.

Winter hardy purple-skinned variety with tasty, firm flesh with consistent colour
 
Bred in Scotland by The James Hutton Institute and an RHS AGM winner, Gowrie is perfect to use throughout autumn and into the new year from October to late January – lift as required or store them in sand.

Resistant to both clubroot and powdery mildew, plus very winter hardy due to its high dry matter.
